Upon being presented with the award at Melwood, the striker told Liverpoolfc.tv: "This is a great city and a great team, and I am very happy to be here.
"The people have treated me very well and it hasn't taken me long to settle in at all.
"It is a surprise to win this prize so early on because I have only been here for two months, but this award is really for the whole of the team and the hard work they've all put in."
Reflecting on his scintillating performance against United, Suarez added: "It's always a classic game against Manchester United and we always hope it goes well for us.
"Thankfully this time it did. The most important thing was to win - and I am glad to say we did.
"We all hope to finish in the top five. It's difficult, but it's important we play well in the next few games.
